Wright College Remains Prepared to Assist Immigrant Students

Today, a deadlocked Supreme Court of the United States upheld the 5th Circuit Court’s decision blocking President Obama’s Deferred Action for Parents of Americans (DAPA) and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Plus (DACA+) intended to shield millions of immigrants from potential deportation.  How Wright College can assist and serve immigrants – a vital part of our Chicago Community – is a priority. Many of our students are immigrants or the children of immigrants, and more than half of our students identify as Hispanic.

Wright College, in collaboration with the National Partnership for New Americans (NPNA), has been hosting “Community Navigator Immigration Trainings” to help address the issues facing these students and their families. Community Navigators are leaders with specialized knowledge to provide quality immigration services and information to members of their communities. We are proud and grateful that more than 50 people volunteered to attend recent Community Navigator Training sessions at our main campus and Wright College Humboldt Park.

The next Community Navigator Training will be a full-length session from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m on Friday, July 29th, at Wright College Humboldt Park – 1645 N. California Avenue. To attend, please email Community Relations Liaison Iris Millán at As Community Navigators and trainers of Community Navigators, we will continue to educate the Wright College community on this important issue affecting our students and their families.
