Summer has Begun and Wright is Ready for Students
A message from Wilbur Wright President David Potash…
Summer greetings —
While this term is always quieter than fall or spring, it’s still nice to see more students on campus after a very productive semester break. We are happy to instruct and support a slightly different student population, too. They may be CPS students taking college credits with an eye towards their freshman year, undergraduates looking to complete Gen Eds or science courses, or members of the community looking to take a course over the summer. They are all welcome at Wright.
This June summer registration was a little different, closing on the Friday before classes rather than remaining open until the day before classes started. In 2015, between the Friday before classes and the first day of classes 232 new students registered for class. This year, enrollment dropped by 81 students between Friday, June 3rd and the first day of class this past Wednesday. Nonetheless, our total enrollment is basically flat thanks to slight improvements in our adult education and personal and professional development course enrollments.
While I have you, there is one more very important item that I would like to share – completions increased. This academic year, we awarded more degrees than in last academic year. Everyone at Wright played a part and should be proud of it, too. This is an incredible accomplishment that is the direct result of a quality education and the support provided to our outstanding students. I want to thank everyone for their inspiring effort.
Stay cool out there and let’s all have a great summer –
