Earth Day 2016: Wright Celebrates Our Environment
The 16th Annual Earth Day at Wright saw 381 participants learn and contemplate how they interact with the environment around them. Wright students, staff, faculty, President David Potash, and the Wright Ram kicked off the festivities by planting three bur oaks in the campus arboretum.
The show then moved into the Campus Center where there were 26 tables of presentations. Visitors could see exhibits including a student-made windmill, upcycled clothing, and for a brief moment even a Ram on a stationary bike!
Upstairs in the Science Building, two open screenings of the water conservation films Flow and Even the Rain were held as part of Earth Day and in conjunction with the Common Text initiative. At the Candidates Environmental Policies table attendees registered to vote and elsewhere 24 people signed up for Air Quality Action Day alerts.
A special thanks to Taher (our cafeteria) for donating gift cards to raffle and providing a vegetarian menu for Earth Day. Thank you also to Elizabeth Corrado with Elevate Energy, Leslie Mercy from Animal Rights, Wright College SGA and all of the student clubs who participated. Most of all though, thank you to the Environmental Club for hosting such a wonderful event!
