Throughout her career, Dr. Reaves has championed student success through institutional effectiveness; her skills and experience are particularly strong in strategic planning, institutional research and analysis, academic program and discipline review, and assessment of student learning and administrative/ program outcomes.

Dr. Reaves joins Wright from Westmoreland County Community College (WCCC) in Youngwood, Pennsylvania, where she served as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Student Services. In this role, Dr. Reaves planned and led initiatives to assess and improve student success, retention, and completion. This included developing WCCC’s four-year strategic plan, as well as leading the college’s “Achieving the Dream” initiative, which resulted in a 2.3 percent increase in overall retention, a 3 to 12 percent increase in student success in developmental and gateway courses, and a 1.7 percent increase in completion.

Prior to her work at WCCC, Dr. Reaves served as Executive Director for Institutional Research and Effectiveness – in a department she established – at Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia. At Virginia Union, she directed the university’s activities with the regional accrediting body, including data collection and reporting, and chaired and guided committees supporting reaffirmation efforts, including those related to institutional effectiveness, student learning assessment, and quality enhancement.

Dr. Reaves has more than 12 years of experience in the classroom, including working as an Assistant Professor at Virginia Union University as well as at Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she taught in the Allied Health Professions. She also worked as an instructor at Wake Tech Community College, also in Raleigh, where she taught Adult Education Basic Skills.

A native of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Dr. Reaves received her Bachelor of Science in Public Health and Master of Arts in Education from East Carolina University. She earned her Doctor of Education in Higher Education Administration from North Carolina State University.

Dr. Reaves is enthusiastic about joining and contributing to our dynamic and talented community here at Wright.

“Wright College is a place where the American Dream begins for thousands of individuals every year. I am extremely excited about the prospect of helping to expand its service of that mission,” she said. “I look forward to working with the dedicated faculty, staff, and administration, as well as community partners. I believe that we can achieve great things together regarding student learning and success, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve.”

As someone who enjoys attending art exhibits, musicals, plays, and dance performances, she is also looking forward to Chicago’s vibrant art and cultural offerings. Dr. Reaves’ other interests include travel, reading, exercising, and camping.
